Before you start
Every pass and every shot in the game resolves as one of four outcomes — quick, charged, perfect or overcharged. This is the mechanic the rest of the game is built on, and it has one honest trap in it: more holding is not more power forever.
Step by step
What to actually do
- 01
Quick: the tap
Tap and the action happens now. Quick actions trade power for immediacy — the right answer whenever a defender is a step away.
- 02
Charged: the hold
Hold and the action charges. A charged release is stronger than a tap, and the charge is a commitment: you are readable while you hold.
- 03
Perfect: release near full
Release close to full charge for the perfect outcome — the best version of the pass or shot. Learning where 'near full' sits in the rhythm is the skill worth practicing first.
- 04
Overcharged: past full
Hold beyond full and you overcharge. The contract states it plainly: holding beyond full loses the safe release instead of adding free power. Greed is punished by the mechanic itself, not by chance.
Worth remembering
- The same four outcomes govern passes and shots, so every passing drill is also shooting practice.
- Under a hard press, the quick tap is not a compromise — it is the correct outcome for that moment.
